Dozens of people attend a seminar called “Successful Breastfeeding Tips” at a shopping mall in Jakarta, Indonesia. The seminar aims to popularize breastfeeding as a fun and healthy lifestyle. Breastfeeding is beneficial because a baby can get good nutrition. And the activity helps both mother and baby to avoid a whole number of health problems. Breastfeeding can also give psychological benefits to mother and baby, giving them time to feel each others warmth and bond better. For the mother, the activity can eliminate the uncomfortable feeling of milk-filled breasts, and can help restore the mothers original body shape more quickly. The chairman of IBMA, Mia Sutanto, says a mother’s success in providing exclusive breastfeeding for her baby depends on three things – commitment, sufficient information and knowledge on breastfeeding, and the support from family, friends, governments and the public. [Mia Sutanto, Chairman of IBMA]: We hope that more people can become aware and support breastfeeding. Mainly to provide support for the mother to be able to breastfeed successfully. We also hope more people can get information about breastfeeding. In the end, there will be more and more Indonesian children who will get their rights—their mothers milk. The seminar also addressed common errors and wrongful presumptions about breastfeeding. Topics included feeding poses, milk storage methods, the use of formula milk, and various signs of movement or sound from babies during feeding …
