What are some good precautions to keep newborn from getting swine flu?
I have a 5 year old in kindergarten and a 3 year old in a two day a week preschool program. I have a 4 week old and have heard (through a close friend at the hospital) that a few of the nurses at a neighboring hospital have tested positive for swine flu. I get my children vaccinated every year for the regular flu but those haven’t been received yet (thought I know that won’t help for swine flu.) Should I pull my 3 year old from the preschool program until spring when my newborn will be older? Any ideas and advice would be appreciated. Also, how are babies doing that get the swine flu?
Do you give your baby a toy or something to keep them occupied while changing their diaper?
Mine seems to not like being changed at all. He is just a lil wiggle bug.
How can I baby-proof my flat-screen TV? I don’t want to fully wall-mount it, just keep it from falling over?
My old dinosour TV finally bit the dust, so I need a new one. I am worried that the new flat-screen TV’s present a safety hazard. I am looking at either a 26 innch or a 32 inch SANYO. How can I prevent it from falling over and killing a small child?
New mom – stay at home or back to work? How can I make money & keep my sanity if I do decide to stay at home?
I have a newborn baby boy at home. My husband and I are unsure of whether or not I should go back to work full time, part time, or stay at home. I am leaning towards staying home, as I do not want a nanny to raise my baby. If I do stay ay home though money will be very tight and I might also miss the adult interaction of work. Is it foolish for me to think that spending quality years with my son is more important than not having to worry about money??? I guess I am wondering 1)if anyone has experience jumping into the world of being a stay at home mom, or 2)if anyone has any experience working from home?
How can an overwhelmed new mom keep up with the house?
My husband and I decided that I would be a stay at home mom for a while due to the cost of childcare. We have a 2 story home with 4 bedrooms. We also have 4 pets (2 cats and 2 bunnies). Before the baby was born I was constantly cleaning the house to keep the pet hair and dust down due to my indoor allergies. Now with the baby and the amount of time he requires of me I am full of anxiety. I cannot stand the clutter and dust but I cannot seem to keep up with the house. Either I have no time OR I am so exhausted and sleep deprived that I have to clean at night when he’s asleep OR wait until weekends so that my husband can watch the baby so I can get some cleaning done. Help! I don’t want to live in a filthy home! Before the baby was born I hired a cleaning service and they were awful! We don’t want to spend the money to hire cleaning staff since they NEVER seem to do the job right and we have lots of hardwood floors to clean!
What items to keep from first baby to pass on to second?
I was blessed with my first child, a beautiful baby girl a little over 5 months ago. If the good lord is willing and I am able, we would like to have a few more hubby says 3 I say 4. I have some health issues so it may only be one more. I was just wondering, what baby items to you keep to use with another baby, and what items do you normally give on to someone else?
How can I baby proof my cat’s litter box to keep my toddler out?
I am expecting my 2nd child in December and need a clever way to baby proof the cat’s litter box. My cat currently stays in our room and will be kicked out into the living room before baby comes (I don’t want cat hair, etc around the bassinet). I have a toddler and do not want to worry about him getting into the nasty littler box. Anyone have any good ideas or know any links to some sites that sell such things?
